Joanna Scott was born a railwayman's daughter in the north of Cumbria.  After leaving school at sixteen, her career took her from Carlisle's 'Ritz Cafe', the Cooperative society, HM Treasury and the Magistrate's bench.  Despite being diagnosed with an incurable condition in her fifties, she conquered Lakeland fells, walked bluebell woods and hunted stone circles to the end.  She remains an inspiraiton to us all.
